Price of Governing the Ungovernable Book By Ishrat Hussain oxford publication price in Pakistan. best book for Pakistan affairs compulsory subject.
Pakistan’s first four decades after independence in 1947 were marked by turmoil. Despite several internal and foreign hurdles, the country managed to maintain an average annual growth rate of 6% over its first forty years of existence. The country outperformed India and Bangladesh in all economic and social parameters. Since 1990, the country’s growth rate has slowed and slipped behind that of its neighbors.
This book aims to investigate the causes of this slowdown, the erratic and inequitable growth of the last twenty-five years, and concludes that the most powerful explanatory hypothesis is the collapse of governance institutions. It also offers a targeted and stepwise strategy to reorganizing several major governmental institutions concerned with accountability, transparency, security, economic growth, and equity.
